Research shows that exploring art is good for children and what better way to do this with a trip to the Gallery. Take a disposable camera for the kids to take pictures of the art that they enjoy, and have memories of the trip to last a lifetime.
The Auckland Art Gallery is situated in Central Auckland, with entry to the gallery via Kitchener Street. Parking is available at the public carparks nearby.
The gallery is open daily from 10am to 5pm, and if you take along proof of your New Zealand residency you get free entry. International guests the entry fee is NZD$20.
Free guided tours of the gallery are available, every day, twice a day at 11.30am and 1.30 pm. Places on tour are limited so make sure the kids don’t miss out and remember to register your places when you enter the gallery.
The Gallery has amazing collections of European and British Art and sculptures, with over 17,000 pieces the exhibitions are always changing.
Auckland Art gallery is also home to a significant permanent collection of New Zealand art, with unique pieces from Maori and Pacific Island artists.
